Kennedy Van der Laan appoints Van Orsouw and Van der Grinten as partner

AMSTERDAM, 9 July 2009 - Kennedy Van der Laan has appointed Erik
van Orsouw and Jan van der Grinten as partner as of 1 July 2009.
Van Orsouw (34) has extensive experience in the field of liability
and insurance, Van der Grinten (44) is head of the Administrative
Law Group of Kennedy Van der Laan.
Van Orsouw and Van der Grinten fit in very well with the team of
partners, says Joost Linnemann, managing partner of Kennedy Van der
Laan. "Van Orsouw combines an open personality with sharp
legal acumen, which makes him an excellent attorney", says
Linnemann. "Van der Grinten is an amiable and prominent
attorney with various other legal positions outside the firm. With
his appointment as partner the Administrative Law Group is once
again represented at partner level."
Van Orsouw studied civil and tax law in the Netherlands and
French law at the Institut d'Études Politiques in Paris and
subsequently took a postgraduate course at the University of
Oxford. He joined Kennedy Van der Laan in 1999. In the past years
he has specialized in the field of technical damages (including
product recalls), professional liability and (international) policy
disputes. Van Orsouw regularly lectures at educational institutions
and trains insurers and insurance brokers. He is the youngest
partner of Kennedy Van der Laan.
Van der Grinten studied history and law in Groningen, Utrecht
and Siena, Italy. In 1997 he joined Stibbe as an administrative law
attorney. In 2007 he joined Kennedy Van der Laan. Van der Grinten
acts as a litigator for governments and businesses in a wide range
of administrative law cases. He engages in, amongst other things,
zoning plan and building permit procedures, subsidy cases and
government liability. Van der Grinten teaches government liability
law at Leiden University, is a substitute-judge of the Court of
Arnhem and chairman of the Appeals and Objections Committee of
Leiden.
