Liesbeth Berkouwer joins Kennedy Van der Laan: Experienced Administrative Law Attorney Strengthens Administrative Law Team
AMSTERDAM, 31 January 2011 – Kennedy Van der Laan has
strengthened its Real Estate and Administrative Law group with the
arrival of Liesbeth Berkouwer. On 1 February 2011 Berkouwer (39)
will join the Amsterdam firm of attorneys and civil law notaries as
an associate partner.
Jan van der Grinten, partner at Kennedy Van der Laan and head of
the practice group, calls the arrival of Berkouwer a great boost to
the administrative and environmental law practice group. “It is
fantastic that Liesbeth will be joining our team. She is an
attorney with great experience and a long track record both in and
beyond the legal profession. Her arrival enables us to broaden and
deepen our current practice, and to extend our services for
government institutions in particular”, says Van der Grinten.
Liesbeth Berkouwer previously worked at the law firm Pot Jonker
Seunke Advocaten in Haarlem and has many years of experience in
administrative law. She graduated in 1996 with majors in
constitutional and administrative law and private law. In 2003, she
completed the administrative law course at the Grotius Academy cum
laude. She started her career as an attorney at Stibbe, and later
had several jobs as a lawyer. First with the Netherlands Authority
for the Financial Markets, where Berkouwer gained considerable
experience in financial administrative law. Then she worked for the
province of Noord-Holland, which increased her understanding of the
working methods and culture in the public sector. In 2006 she
returned to the legal profession. In the past years, apart from
environmental law Berkouwer has also specialized in educational law
and municipal law. “The arrival of Liesbeth Berkouwer will make our
practice group considerably stronger in all these fields”, says Jan
van der Grinten.
The administrative and environmental law practice group of
Kennedy Van der Laan advises public authorities, companies,
institutions, insurers and housing corporations on a variety of
matters.
