Arlette Schijns
Arlette Schijns acts as a litigator and advisor to insurers,
government authorities, and not-for-profit organizations in the
broad field of insurance law, damages and liability law.
Arlette specializes in employers' liability, corporate
liability, professional liability, personal injury and policy
disputes. Besides, she has a lot of experience in the field of
government liability. At her previous law firm she defended the
interests of, among others, the State in the case of the fireworks
factory disaster.
Arlette is also a fellow/lecturer of the Civil Law Department of
Radboud University Nijmegen, where she lectures, among other
things, the master's course Liability & Insurance. Arlette
gives courses and lectures frequently also outside the university,
about topics relating to liability law and procedural law. Arlette
publishes in various professional journals; she is an editor of the
journal
Overheid&Aansprakelijkheid, author of the book
‘Aansprakelijkheid van de wegbeheerder’, and co-author of
the Handboek Personenschade (liability for persons).
Arlette is also an active member of the Dutch Bar Association;
as a member of the Kortmann Committee she advised the Bar about the
professional education for attorneys. Furthermore, she is a member
of the board of the Instruments Fund of the Royal Academy of Music
in The Hague.
Having studied drama, Arlette likes to visit the theatre often
in her spare time.
