Christien Wildeman

Christien Wildeman joined Kennedy Van der Laan in 2003. Her practice focuses on
intellectual property law (e.g. trademark and copyright law) and freedom of the press and media law.

Christien has extensive experience in libel advice and litigation. She advises clients in trademark matters, varying from clearances and licensing to how best to approach infringers and handling oppositions. She is an expert in domain name disputes, and has thorough knowledge of the various alternative dispute resolution (ADR) regulations regarding for instance .com, .eu and .nl top level domains.
Apart from a Master in civil law Christien also has a Master in criminal law and has worked as a Clerk of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal in criminal cases. Her knowledge of criminal law frequently comes at hand in the media and IP practice.

Christien is a visiting lecturer of intellectual property and press law at the School for Journalism in Utrecht, the Windesheim School of Media and at the Media Academy in Hilversum. Furthermore, she is an editor for media law blog Media Report.

Christien is active with Lawyers for Lawyers, a Dutch organization which has committed itself to enable lawyers to practice law in freedom and independence all over the world.
