Joost Achterberg

After his civil law studies at VU University Amsterdam, Joost Achterberg joined Kennedy Van der Laan in 2006. In March of that year he was sworn in as an attorney.

Joost is a member of the Banking & Finance team of Kennedy Van der Laan and of the practice groups Litigation and the Financial Supervision Act (Wet financieel toezicht, 'Wft').

Joost specializes in banking litigation and represents Dutch banks in legal proceedings concerning credits, securities and other bank-related subjects. Besides, Joost assists (foreign) clients in international trade disputes and arbitration proceedings.
Joost also specializes in insolvency law. As such he advises companies in trouble, but also their (foreign) shareholders, directors and creditors. He also acts as a trustee.
