Kennedy van der Laan has a strong regulated-markets practice. In
particular in the energy and telecommunications market,
multi-disciplinary teams of lawyers work together in advising
clients on market and regulatory developments relevant to their
businesses. Market liberalisation in the energy sector, often due
to EU regulation, has lead to a continuing change of which players
in the energy market need to stay ahead. Changes such as industry
consolidation, privatisation, energy trading, and also the
regulatory bodies such as the Energy (DTE) and Competition (NMa)
authorities, create demanding challenges. Challenges for which
Kennedy van der Laan's Energy team has pragmatic solutions;
solutions resolving today's issues while anticipating the problems
of tomorrow.
Members of the team have worked for both public and private
companies, as well as foreign and domestic new entrants to the
liberalising Dutch energy markets, on a wide range of issues
regarding in particular generation, transportation, delivery and
trade of electricity and gas. Kennedy van der Laan has specific
industry knowledge on regulatory, competition, planning, M&A,
finance and dispute resolution issues.
Based on its industry knowledge and experience the Energy team has
the capacity to advise on the broad spectrum of electricity and gas
related issues as well as renewable energy in the Netherlands, from
large corporate transactions to specific regulatory advice.
